General Information
Staffing Update:
Mrs. Kirkley has decided to stay home with her baby boy, Jude Kirkley! Ms. Brittany Saraga will be taking her place starting on March 11th. Ms. Saraga is coming to us as certified teacher with five years of teaching experience. We look forward to having her as part of our amazing 4th Grade Team!
Additionally, Ms. Sadira Hearse has been hired to take over during the rest of Mrs. Boyd's maternity leave. She will be with us starting on March 11th and will remain in Mrs. Boyd's class until the beginning of May.
Transportation
All changes of transportation must be submitted to the Front Office by 2:00PM. Transportation changes sent to your child's homeroom teacher or after 2:00 in the afternoon cannot be accepted.
School Visits
Progress reports will be sent home this week in your child's Wednesday folder. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's grades or progress, please set up a meeting with your child's teacher. Teachers will not be able to discuss your child's academic progress during arrival, dismissal, or in front of other students.
When visiting the school campus, you must stop by the front desk to sign in and receive a visitor's badge! If you would like to visit and/or volunteer in the classroom, please be in contact with your child’s homeroom teacher to figure out what works best. If it is your child’s birthday you may visit during lunch with a prepackaged treat (no homemade goodies!). Please inform your child’s homeroom teacher prior to bringing a special treat so that we can be prepared.
If you would like to eat with your child during lunch, please adhere to the following Dilworth rules: If you eat in the courtyard, your student may not invite a friend to join. If you eat inside by the fish pond, your student may invite one friend only to join.
Homework
Reading:
It is important to us that students are not spending longer than an hour on homework per night. Students should spend approximately 30 minutes on reading and 30 minutes on math. If your child is taking longer than an hour, please contact your child’s reading or math teacher so that modifications and adjustments can be made.
Please feel free to contact your child’s subject area teacher if you have any questions!

Homework
Reading:
- Students have a weekly reading contract that needs to be worked on nightly and returned fully completed on Friday. Skills in the contract directly relate to what we are learning in class, so it is important for your child to stay on top of their work. Lastly, your child will have a set of words each week to practice sorting and spelling for a bi-weekly Word Work quiz.
- Students will be given a Math homework contract to be completed by Friday. If homework is not completed when it's due, the student will use recess time to make up any incomplete work.
